Based on the system tests in ShanXi for more than 10 years by CAU,and other institutions,the benefits of conservation tillage comparing to traditional one,which are list in the following three aspects.

1.social benefit

Decreasing 60% of run-off(loss of water),80% of water erosion(loss of soil);

Decreasing 60% of wind erosion(sand blowing in farmland),keeping sand storm down;

Decreasing atmospheric pollution(Mainly by stopping burning straw);

2.ecological benefit

Increasing 14%~17% of soil storage in fallow and 15%~19% of water utilization efficiency;

Increasing of soil fertilizer(0.03%~0.05% per year of soil organic matter,available nitrogen,available kalium)

3.economic benefit

Increasing 13%~17% wheat and maize yield;

Decreasing operation process and 10%~20% of cost;

Increasing 20%~30% of farmer incomes.

Currently,conservation tillage has started to experimente,demonstrate and popularize in ShanXi,HeBei,Inner Mongolia,LiaoNing,ShaanXi,GanSu and other 7 provinces.The pictures 5,6,7,8 reflect the situation of conservation tillage in ShanXi,HeBei, LiaoNing and Inner Mongolia respectively.
